The Animated Series' Showrunner Has Seen Your Season 2 Predictions — With Some Positive Updates
The much-anticipated Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been rampant.
The first season presents a diverse group of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds with songs about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Could a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service as the main goal," the creator stated recently. "However I feel like me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That could imply fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how quickly the new season progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds now.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a few fans create a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on Prime Video on October 29.
